April 6, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Sponsored by: Self Help Graphics + Designmatters at ArtCenter

20 max, All Ages
Hey LA, Make it Count!

Learn about why it’s important to be counted in the 2020 Census with Self Help Graphics and Art Teaching Artists. Through silkscreen printing and watercolor, participants will vision and identify their community needs, and paint a picture of what their neighborhood can look like when counted!

This workshop is an informative and creative way to learn about the Census and help participants understand how being counted benefits their community. The workshop is free and for all ages!

About BMAS

Self Help Graphics Barrio Mobile Art Studio (BMAS) began in 1974, in a converted UPS-style truck, and was the first of its kind in the country to take arts education to the streets of Los Angeles. It later relaunched in 2014, thanks in part to support by The James Irvine Foundation.

Our team of skilled teaching artists are hired from the local community to facilitate mobile workshops in areas of printmaking, such as silkscreening, linocut, drypoint and monotype, among others. BMAS nurtures a cohort of intergenerational artists and makes art accessible in neighborhoods across Southern California, expanding arts education in public schools, libraries, parks, community centers, museums and alternative public spaces.
