Alberto Altamirano
2019 Fellow
Alberto was born and raised in Temecula, California, the land of the hot air balloons. Whether building forts as a kid or creating handmade duct-tape wallets with his brother, Alberto has always been a maker and a hands-on designer. He grew up wanting to be an architect and that dream only compounded when he discovered that the majority of architecture school activities involved modelmaking.
Alberto graduated in the class of 2019 from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. While a student, he was an active member of Alpha Rho Chi, a professional architectural fraternity on campus, and he was also a teaching assistant. In his spare time, he led free trainings on modelmaking for his younger classmates.
Alberto participated in the MADWORKSHOP Workshop taught by Riccardo Blumer in 2018. For his fellowship, he developed a table, chair, and stool set he had designed in the furniture design studio at USC, led by Scott Mitchell.
He has been working as a brand specialist in New York City.
