LAUSD Banner Challenge
With the help of CO Architects and local artist Pae White, MADWORKSHOP challenged students from 13 LAUSD schools to make original artworks about "what they love about LA."

These artworks would have become the exterior skin of the MacArthur Floating School, a 2,000 square foot public gathering and educational space planned for MacArthur Park Lake in downtown Los Angeles.
Although COVID-19 put an abrupt end to the construction project, there was an overwhelming response to the Banner Challenge. Hundreds of schoolchildren submitted their creative work for consideration. The illustrations are wide-ranging and moving, standing as a stirring time capsule of the City of Los Angeles as seen through the eyes of its youth.
