Next Generation Shows Skills at USC’s Furniture Design Class
In 2005, renowned architect David Martin established a furniture design class at the University of Southern California’s School of Architecture in Los Angeles. Combining architecture, design, craftsmanship, and the maker movement, the class charges students with creating a chair and table.
Now under the direction of R. Scott Mitchell, associate director of architectural practice, this year’s class numbered 30 students, all of whom presented their results to peers and judges on campus. Interior Design has been a judge since the program’s inception and here we showcase a selection of designs by the makers of the future.
